CRAZY KIDS ETCHINGS
|
|
A series of 6 Intaglio narrative prints, hand colored with watercolors 1995 I wanted to have text, but I also wanted the people who looked at my prints to use their imagination and make up their own story. I chose to print the text in Dutch not only because it is an interesting looking printed language, but also because of personal ties to it- my mother being Dutch. I myself do not know the language, so my Mom translated this simple story for me:

Heir zyn wy, plannen wat wy vanavond gaan doen. ~ Here we are, planning what to do tonight. |

Wy zullen naar een band gaan luisteren. Earst gaan wy ons klaar maken. ~ We will go listen to a band. First we should get ready. |

Wy lachen on Zoe's bokkesprongen, achter het toneel. Gek! ~ Zoe's backstage antics make us laugh. She is crazy! My Mom told me that the literal translation for 'antics'(bokkesprongen) is that sort of frolicking kick-of-the-back-legs that a baby goat or horse does when it is happily running around. I thought that was cute, so I put a gost in the pendant portion of the neclace frame. |

Na de show gaan wy mengen en meedoen. ~ Mixing and mingling after the show. |

Na een lange is het tyd om naar huis te gaan. ~ Time to go home after a long night. Het Einde ~ The End |
